Thanks for the Continued Support of the Pump House Restoration

After 33 years of being used as a storage building, the Village of Oregon Historic Pump House is set to come back to life in 2015.  Several Oregon residents started this journey, and now the torch has been passed to current residents who will finish the restoration of the Pump House.  This all started when I proposed new landscaping around the building, and now we are in the midst of restoring the building to become the new Oregon Welcome Center.  The restoration is not yet complete, but I want to say thank you to everyone who has helped us get where we are today.  We couldn’t do this without your continued support.

First, thanks to our village board & staff, and preservation organizations and committees for embracing this valuable community project.  To the local nurseries who donated all the plant and landscape material and the local church group who helped finish the landscaping.  To the Oregon Observer, who provided great updates regarding our ongoing progress.  Thank you to local organizations who staffed tables at events, and those who donated proceeds of events to the project. To the Oregon High School football coach and players who helped remove demo material from the Pump House.  Thanks to all the volunteers who donated time and labor, the businesses who donated landscape and building materials, signs, printing, artistic talent, and venues for fundraising events.  We are also thankful to our recent funders for believing in the importance and impact this project will have on the Village and Dane County.

We still have more work to do before the restoration is complete.  Brick pavers are still available for sale for the front walkway.  More information can be found at our display at the Firefly, or you can go to www.oregonwatertower.com.  Thank you to all village residents & beyond, as well as local businesses and organizations who have sent in donations.  Please continue to support our efforts and watch us transform the Historic Pump House into the Oregon Welcome Center.

Lastly, I want to thank everyone in Oregon for welcoming me, the newbie from Madison.  I’ve now lived in the village for almost 2 years, and feel very proud to call the Village of Oregon my home.

Thank You to Madison Community Foundation and Dane Arts

We have to thank both the Madison Community Foundation (www.madisoncommunityfoundation.org) for the recent grant of $15,000, and Dane Arts (danearts@countyofdane.com) for the grant of $3,000 towards the Pump House Restoration Project.

The Madison Community Foundation uses its local knowledge and assets to inspire giving, support meaningful initiatives and connect people for the common good.  The Dane Arts Grant is supported by Dane Arts, and additional support from the W. Jerome Frautschi Foundation.

We are very thankful to both of these organizations for their generous support of the Village of Oregon Pump House Restoration Project.

Thank you Madison Community Foundation and Dane Arts.

It's Amazing - We've Raised Over $46,000

It's been about a year since we started fundraising for the restoration of the Pump House.  A lot has happened in the last year, most notiably, how the residents of Oregon have contributed to the project.  We have raised over $46,000 for the restoration.  Many residents have purchased a engraved brick for the new walkway up to the building, and the Village of Oregon Historical Preservation Commission and Village Board have endorsed the restored Pump House to become the Oregon Welcome Center.

Our  goal is to fill the entire walk way with engraved bricks, we have sold over 50 bricks so far.  We will take new orders until December 31st.

We are working on the inside of the building, taking down the old ceiling, working on new flooring, new electrical, new lights, adding air conditioning and heating, installing new windows and doors.  We are also completing some work on the outside of the building, we are replacing bricks and re-tuckpointing.

Please continue to support our efforts!
